Healing Through the Hair
I have made it my mission to heal through the hair because I have seen so many cases of hair loss in my career experience.
Alopecia is a medical term for hair loss which affects many African Americans. There are various categories of alopecia and degrees of the severity of the conditions. Two most common types are Alopecia Areata and Traction Alopecia. Alpecia Areata is premature hair loss that appears in a small round area on the scalp about the size of a silver dollar caused by internal disorder or disease that is affected by the nervous and or immune system. Traction Alopecia is the second type, it is a self induced and most likely permanent condition that is caused by the hair being pulled from the scalp from the improper use of weaves, glue, improperly applied braids, headscarves, and chemical use.
One particular client of mine committed suicide due to her struggles with self identity and hair loss. Please click on the video (coming soon) to learn more about Chandra's story and my Healing Through The Hair Mission.
